Denk mee over het onderwijs aan de UvA
Met deze special edition van de UvA Create a Course Challenge word je als student uitgedaagd om buiten de gebaande paden te treden en na te denken over hoe onderwijs future proof, uitdagend én betekenisvol kan zijn. Welke onderwerpen en werkvormen zouden aan bod moeten komen en welke rol spelen studenten en docenten hierbij? Denk mee over de manier waarop onderwijs bij het instituut, en daarmee binnen de UvA, kan bijdragen aan toekomstige verandering. Dit is jouw kans om jouw visie op onderwijs te realiseren. Wie weet ben jij volgend jaar student-assistent bij jouw eigen vak!
Studenten zonder grenzen
Centraal binnen de challenge staat dat grenzen overstegen worden. Niet enkel tussen studenten en docenten en tussen faculteiten en disciplines, maar ook samenwerking tussen de academische wereld en de maatschappij.
Special Edition: Future Change
De wereld verandert en onderwijs verandert mee. De toekomst vraagt om innovatieve oplossingen voor actuele uitdagingen. Voor deze special edition van de challenge ligt de nadruk dan ook op het bijdragen aan de veranderingen die de maatschappij nodig heeft. Verandering is een breed begrip dat vanuit allerlei invalshoeken kan worden benaderd, zoals op technologisch, economisch, ecologisch, politiek, sociaal, psychologisch en filosofisch vlak. Denk bij het ontwikkelen van jouw vak out of the box en vanuit verschillende disciplines.

Hoe werkt het?
De Create a Course Challenge bestaat uit vier rondes. Uiteindelijk kiest de jury één winnaar. Het IIS gaat samen met de winnaar aan de slag met het ontwikkelen van het vak. De challenge staat open voor alle UvA-studenten, zowel bachelor als master.
Ronde 1: Dien je idee in
Deadline 10 oktober 2023 09:00 uur
Vul het online formulier in met een eerste opzet van jouw idee voor een te ontwikkelen vak. Of maak een foto van jouw ingevulde bierviltje en e-mail het naar iis@uva.nl. Wees creatief wat betreft inhoud en vorm!
Ronde 2: Werk je idee uit
Deadline 1 november 2023 09:00 uur
Zodra wij jouw idee hebben ontvangen, krijg je via de mail een sjabloon toegestuurd dat je helpt jouw idee verder uit te werken. Veel onderwijs is georganiseerd in hoor- en werkcolleges; bedenk jij een vernieuwende werkvorm? Op welke manier draagt jouw vak bij aan het begrijpen en begeleiden van maatschappelijke verandering? Wat leren de studenten? Welke docenten zijn betrokken? Welk studiemateriaal gebruiken de studenten en hoe wordt er getoetst?
Je kunt ervoor kiezen om je vak in het Nederlands of in het Engels uit te werken, afhankelijk van de taal waarin het vak uiteindelijk gegeven gaat worden. Stuur het ingevulde format voor de deadline van 10 oktober 2023 09:00 uur toe naar het IIS: iis@uva.nl.Ronde 3: Nomineer jouw favoriete vak
Tussen 8 en 15 november 2023 09:00 uur
Alle UvA studenten en medewerkers mogen eenmalig op hun top 3 stemmen. Stemmen is mogelijk vanaf 8 november 09:00 uur tot 15 november 09:00 uur. De vijf ideeën met de meeste stemmen gaan door naar de finale.
Ronde 4: Pitch je idee voor de jury
Donderdag 23 november 2023 17:00 – 19:00 uur
Tijdens de finale bepaalt de jury, bestaande uit John Grin, hoogleraar Bestuur en Beleid aan de UvA, Linda de Greef, programmamanager van het Onderwijslab van het IIS en Noah Pellikaan, voorzitter van de Centrale Studenten Raad van de UvA, welke inzending beloond wordt met de realisatie van het vak. De finale vindt op de Roeterseilandcampus plaats en is open voor alle geïnteresseerden. Na afloop proosten we samen op de winnaar, die daarna direct aan de slag mag als student-assistent bij de ontwikkeling van het vak.

Voorwaarden
Houd tijdens het ontwikkelen van jouw idee de volgende randvoorwaarden en richtlijnen aan.
Randvoorwaarden
- Het begrip 'verandering' moet centraal staan;
- Het vak moet interdisciplinair zijn;
- Het vak moet geschikt zijn voor 2e en 3e jaars UvA-bachelorstudenten;
- Het vak moet ontwikkeld worden voor minimaal 20 deelnemers;
- Aantal studiepunten: 6 EC;
- Het vak mag zowel Nederlands- als Engelstalig zijn.
Je vak wordt beoordeeld op de volgende criteria:
- Interdisciplinariteit: verschillende academische disciplines komen samen.
- Maatschappelijke relevantie: het vak brengt kennis en vaardigheden bij die nodig zijn om bij te dragen aan de verandering die onze samenleving nodig heeft.
- Originaliteit: het vak heeft een vernieuwend karakter.
- Opzet: de leerdoelen, leeractiviteiten en de manier waarop de leerdoelen getoetst worden.
- Innovatieve onderwijsvormen: denk buiten het kader van hoor- en werkcolleges. Het betrekken van externe partijen of maatschappelijke partners is een pre.

"Who Are My People: Towards Community Values in the Age of Hyper-Individualism"

Students will implement their gained knowledge and ideas into the physical manifestation of a community space at the University campus.
