  • To reflect upon ones own learning experiences and a ‘hidden curriculum’ in- and outside university
  • To design your own learning plan
  • To execute a personal self-designed learning event
  • To (co-)design and (co-)host a learning activity for peers
  • To connect critical pedagogy theory and personal experience

Content

Welcome to The Hidden Curriculum,

The aim of this course is to ‘unflatten’ the way you look at learning and enable you to take more initiative in your own learning activities.

During our time together we will discover what the ’hidden curriculum’ within and outside the university are. We’ll focus on what the ruts are that we move in, what these mean for how and what we learn and how we could go beyond them?

As a tribe we will read literature on critical pedagogy and engage in dialogue with guest speakers to broaden our concepts of learning. With fellow students you will investigate your learning edges, gather real-life experiences and get a fresh perspective on what learning looks like and how to turn what we want to learn into a project.

You are invited to bring your full selves to this course and take your learning outside the traditional classroom setting. Among other things you will:

  • Read an academic comic that critiques the value of text over images Unflattening by Nick Sousanis.
  • Explore your own learning desires and imagine a future learning journey around those.
  • Step into personal learning activities.
  • Open up your ways of thinking and communicating with workshops (such as) Theatre of the Oppressed and Visual Thinking workshop.
  • Engage in deep dialogue with guest speakers and each other.
  • Facilitate learning activities for your peers and others.
  • Write weekly reflections and a final essay.
  • Cultivate a self-directed learners mindset within a learning community.

Welcome to join our learning tribe!
