'As a student you have the opportunity to daily interact with experts within various areas of inquiry and get to tap into their knowledge as part of your studies'

A year and a half into the programme I am very positive about my experience here at the University of Amsterdam. I chose the cognitive neuroscience track because it allowed me to combine my interest in the brain from micro to macro level with my curiosity of how the human brain supports the myriad of tasks that we are able to perform. I was well aware of the programme's research-oriented focus and was curious how the daily life in a scientific setting would look like.

Jump right into high-quality research projects

Thanks to its focus on practical research experience, gained during the two mandatory internships, I have gotten the opportunity to jump right into high-quality research projects on topics that interest me. The strength of the master lies in it's flexibility, both when it comes to designing your individual study plan but also when it comes to the breadth of fields that are available. As a student you have the opportunity to daily interact with experts within various areas of inquiry and get to tap into their knowledge as part of your studies.

Amsterdam is a great place to study

The tempo is high and the complexity of the subjects can be daunting but that is balanced by the friendly and accessible professors and supervisors. Coming as an international student to a place like Amsterdam guarantees that you can fill your free time by going to incredible concerts, enjoying its vibrant night life, doing sports at student prices, or just exploring the very special city itself. Whether or not I will go into research, I will never regret my decision to attend this master.
