At the IIS, we define transdisciplinarity as the integration of academic knowledge with non-academic knowledge. This knowledge integration is featured in education in different ways. One intensive way of a transdisciplinary knowledge exchange is through co-learning. Here, students and professionals work together to address an issue. The aim here is an equal relationship between students, professionals and others involved.
Event details of With Educators: Co-creating transdisciplinary co-learning
Date
21 May 2024
Time
15:00 -17:00
Room

Co-learning is a meaningful exchange of knowledge and experience to achieve a more holistic understanding. Students apply academic knowledge, methods and skills to a realistic, practical issue. In addition, students learn from professionals who share their real-world knowledge and experience. By working intensively with a team of students, professionals can learn about the latest academic insights and enrich themselves.

What does this transdisciplinary education for students and professionals look like? How can we use the expertise of professionals in our education, and how can students help the professionals with complex (societal) challenges?

The goal of this With Educators Workshop is to explore together with teachers, educational developers and professionals how we can develop education that is interesting for all parties. How can we unite the learninggoals of all parties involved in education? During this workshop, we will share our experiences and lessons as pioneers of co-learning education. Then we will co-create an educational design in which all parties have input, shared goals are achieved and multiple learning outcomes are created.

This workshop is taught by educational developers Debby Gerritsen and Rosanne van Wieringen and will be taught in English.
