Meet the finalists of the Create a Course Challenge 2024

Join the finale on 21 November

Last week, many students and employees of the UvA cast their vote for the Create a Course challenge 2024. Find out in random order which students received the most votes for their course idea and, as a result, secured their spot in the grand finale on 21 November on Roeterseilandcampus.

The five ideas that proceed to the grand finale:

  1. "From Bias to Balance: Building Resilient Minds for the 21st Century" door Afon Khari (Maser Brain and Cognitive Sciences)
  2. "Meer of Minder: Het ‘Marokkanenvraagstuk’ in perspectief" door Mohamed El-Hirech (Sociologie en Midden-Oosten Studies)
  3. "Money Talks: Journalism Meets Economics" door Yuval Peled & Timofey Zhalnin (BSc Business Administration & MSc Quantitative Finance)
  4. "Power and Manipulation" door Maaike Onstein (Philosophy of the Social Sciences and Humanities)
  5. "Sex, Stigma and Steroids: Debugging the Hormonal Code of Mind and Behavior" door Emilia Bienek & Sissi Chen (BSc Psychology and MSc Biomedical Sciences)

The grand finale

You are cordially invited to join us the live finale on Thursday 21 November, from 5 – 7 PM (Central European Time). During the grand finale, the jury decides which course idea will be rewarded with the realisation of the course. The winner will then further develop the course together with the IIS. Next academic year, the winning course will be on the UvA curriculum as an elective course open to all UvA students.
