We will watch several films of different genres and subjects and ask ourselves questions. How do you relate to the theme of the film? How are you affected? Are you touched on a rational or emotional level and why? Is it purely the subject that moved you or has it something to do with the imagery, the pace of the film, the colours that are used, the soundscape, the music? How do form and content relate to each other? To answer these questions, students are introduced to core concepts of the classical film analysis (e.g. mise en scene, cinematography, editing and sound).
Students will use this knowledge to develop a portfolio about themselves with (self-made) photographs in order discover something new about themselves. Students will share their work and learn how to communicate feedback that is both productive and supportive.
