Today is SDG Action Day! A good moment to reflect on the importance and urgency of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) formulated by the United Nations. The Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies (IIS) continuously strives to reflect current social issues and challenges in the educational offer of the programmes and electives.

The bachelor's programme Future Planet Studies focuses specifically on the complex issues surrounding people and the planet, in which SDGs such as Climate Action, Responsible Consumption and Production and Sustainable Cities and Communities play an important role in the programme. Examples of courses in which these themes return are: Future perspective for the Earth, Energy transitions and Quality of Life. Within the bachelor's programme Beta-gamma, current social issues are dealt with within thematic courses such as: The City, Human(e) AI and Science in Practice. In IIS electives and honours education, different SDGs can be addressed depending on the chosen issue. For each course it is stated on the website which goals are contributed to within the course.
