With the start of the academic year, it's time for the UvA Create a Course Challenge! With the Create a Course Challenge UvA students are challenged to submit an idea for a new course. The best idea will be developed into an elective open to all UvA students in collaboration with the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies.

Fun, innovative and meaningful education

Every year, the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies organises the UvA Create a Course Challenge, where students can submit their own ideas for a UvA course, which topics should be tackled and  which learning methods should be used.

Students are challenged to think out of the box, and think about the way their education can be more innovative, challenging, meaningful and fun.

How does it work?

The UvA Create a Course Challenge consists of four rounds. In the first round, students submit their idea, before 9 October. Then, they develop their idea further. All students and staff of the UvA can vote for their favorite ideas between 7 and 14 November 2024, 9 AM. In the final round, with the five most voted ideas, the winner is chosen by a jury during the live finale on 21 November. The IIS and the winner will work together to develop the course into an elective open to all UvA students.

The Challenge is open to all UvA students, Bachelor’s and Master’s alike.
